Letter from the lab

Dear A and D,

Thank you for having IVF treatment at [clinic]. I'm writing on behalf of the laboratory team with a brief summary of the embryology from this cycle.

Date of egg collection: 6 September 2013
Number of eggs collected: 12
Method of insemination: ICSI
Number of eggs suitable for insemination using ICSI: 9
Number of eggs fertilised normally: 3
Number of embryos transferred to the uterus: 2
Number of embryos suitable for freezing and frozen for future use: 0

We have followed your instructions on your consent form regarding any eggs and embryos not suitable for freezing.

If you have any questions about this summary of your treatment cycle, please feel free to contact us and we will arrange a suitable time to call and discuss this with you in more detail.

We wish you the very best.

Yours sincerely ...

Oh, so we have no embryos left. That is really sad. D says he feels dispirited, as do I. In the back of my mind, I had hoped that we would get a second chance if this transfer didn't work. The wait until next Friday's blood test is going to go extra slowly.

  1. My face dropped and heart sank when I read that there were no embryos frozen... But, there are two embryos transferred that are hopefully making themselves at home and doing magical cell division!

    The wait for Friday........

Please go gently on yourselves over the coming week...
    Sending positive thoughts your way,
    CG
